  Back to Sub-Sub
  More from Arthur Halley

Sub-Sub is an old-fashioned comic about two brothers, one overburdened by life's responsibilities, one underburdened. There are lots of characters, gags, and short narratives. By "old-fashioned," one means to imply that the comic emulates Krazy Kat, Pogo, and Peanuts, although it is absolutely amatuerish compared to those comics, for better or worse. The title "Sub-Sub" comes from the author's preface to Moby Dick, where Melville eloquently writes about the folly of unappreciated labor and the corresponding pleasure that can be found in sharing someone else's self-pity, among other things.
